Scars can often start hurting years after surgery which can bring anxiety and worry about what is going on under the surface of your scar.
What a lot of people don't realise is that scars can acctually take up to 2 years to fully mature. This new scar tissue is different to the 'normal' tissue in your body and it is less flexible and elastic which can lead to your scar feeling tight, painful and uncomfortable.
As the scar tissue develops it may stick to structures in the body or if near internal organs (such as a c-section scar or hysterectomy scar) it may stick to these causing further pain and discomfort.
Tight scars may also cause pain , discomfort and restricted movement in joints that are not necessarily near the scar due to trauma to the layers of the body which have been cut open and then stitched back together and strengthened with strong scar tissue often altering the freedom and flexibility of movement in the whole body.
Within scar tissue nerves can get trapped, tissue can get congested and cause puffyness in the area and sensation can be affected with the scar becoming incredibly sensitive, totally numb or a combination of both!
So if your scar has recently started hurting years after surgery or if you have just accepted this pain as your 'new normal' I want you to know that it doesn't have to be and that I can help you.
Many of my clients have had life changing results from my gentle hands on scar tissue release treatments for surgical scars of all kinds from spinal scars, to c-section scars, leg and foot scars to pyloric stenosis scars and thyroidectomy scars...so long as your scar has been FULLY healed for at least 8 weeks, is not infected and has not been closed using mesh then this treatment is suitable for you.
Don't let your painful scar become your new normal...you only get one body, its time to look after it and help it to be the best it can be!
Scar treatments are available in person with Hayley at her clinic based in Lincolnshire.
